A $100 investment by a college student in Toledo, Ohio, in 1974 planted the seed from which has grown one of the most successful garage door and home improvement companies in the country, located right here in Northwest Ohio. When George Ebel, made that investment, little did he realize what the ultimate payoff would be. Ebel placed a $100 ad in the local newspaper offering 13 automatic door openers; they were all sold and installed. This was the beginning of a company whose business philosophy included exceptional customer service, with a sharp focus on customer needs and satisfaction. That philosophy also features direct access to all management personnel by phone or e-mail and it’s a credo that continues to this day. Robert Bollin joined the company in 1977 as a garage door installer and steadily worked his way up joining Ebel as a full partner in the business in the early 1980’s, and continues to grow the company's annual sales. In 2006 Bollin purchased 100% of the company stock and is currently President and CEO of the company and continues to run the daily operations. Through the years many additional home improvement products were added until today they not only include automatic door openers but also garage doors, entry & storm doors, patio doors, replacement windows, retractable patio awnings and garage storage systems, siding and sunrooms. This brought about a name change in the fall of 2003 from Toledo Automatic Door Co to Toledo Door & Window to reflect more accurately the products available. Its customer-friendly strategy has worked so well that Toledo Door & Window was ranked #35 in the International Door Association’s Top 100 door dealer survey in 2004. Since 2004 the company has established themselves as a nationally ranked remodeling company, by being selected to Qualified Remodeler Magazines top 500 in the Nation.
